Focus

From this perspective, Mission Design’s main focus is to drive economic development through design in Quebec in order to strengthen the industry. Our mandate revolves around three main themes:
  • Concerting the design industry
  • Increasing the demand for design
  • Strategic monitoring of international trends

Mission

Mission Design is a non-profit organization whose mission is to stimulate the demand for design in this province. We would like businesses, public organizations and the public to learn how to use and appreciate design as a tool for innovation and as a mark of quality. Working together, Quebec can position itself strategically as a design leader, anticipating global trends instead of following them.

Vision

Contribute to positioning Quebec among the globe’s most innovative and creative communities, thus becoming a society where design is integrated in organizational and popular culture.

Projects

In support of our mission and vision and in order to reach our objectives, we must focus on concrete projects. The following are some of the projects we have initiated thus far:

Steering Committee

: The steering committee groups together the key players from the private, public, associative and educational sectors. Its main objective is to discuss the issues related to the design industry, to ensure coherence within the field and to occupy a central position when it comes to strategic orientations for the Quebec Industry.

Portal

: Sustained by its professionals, the design industry will benefit from a Quebec Internet portal aimed at promoting and enhancing architecture, design and urban planning meanwhile serving as virtual gathering place.

Under One Roof

: An initiative that stems from the "Ordre des architects du Quebec" and the CIDQ (Conférence interprofessionnelle du design du Québec), Mission Design is striving to move the head offices of 10 professional design organizations to one location, The 'House of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning', in order to create a cultural hub and to encourage exchanges between disciplines.

Business

: A diagnostic tool to help businesses from the manufacturing, technology or services' industry, assess how well they have integrated design and evaluate their potential for using design to grow and thrive. For more details, click here.

2017

: The project 2017 proposes an international event grouping the congresses of the six international design organizations in Montreal in a series of interrelated conferences on architecture, design and urban planning. 2017 is the year that Expo turns 50, Canada celebrates its sesquicentennial and Montreal commemorates its 375th.
